Netflix’s Love Affair with Georgia: A Hub for Streaming Hits

Georgia has become a powerhouse for film and TV production, thanks to its generous tax incentives, local talent, diverse landscapes, and proximity to Atlanta often called the “Hollywood of the South.” Netflix, in particular, has filmed numerous projects here, turning small towns and urban spots into on-screen magic. From thrillers to reality shows, here’s a quick roundup of some standout Netflix originals shot in the Peach State as of early 2026.

•  His & Hers (2026 Limited Series): This gripping murder mystery, starring Tessa Thompson and Jon Bernthal as estranged spouses unraveling a small-town crime, was primarily filmed in Dahlonega, a charming north Georgia spot known for its historic vibe. Additional scenes were shot around Atlanta, capturing authentic Southern foothills scenery.    The show topped Netflix charts worldwide shortly after its January 8 premiere.

•  Stranger Things (Final Season, 2025): The iconic sci-fi horror series wrapped its run with key scenes filmed at Oglethorpe University in Atlanta, standing in as a college campus. Georgia locations like Powder Springs (for Hopper’s cabin) have been staples throughout the show’s Atlanta-area production.

•  Ozark (Seasons 1-4, 2017-2022): This award-winning crime thriller follows a financial planner (Jason Bateman) relocating his family to launder money in the Missouri Ozarks, but it was predominantly shot in Georgia to leverage tax incentives and locations. Iconic spots include Lake Allatoona and Lake Lanier (standing in for the Lake of the Ozarks), the Byrde family home in Flowery Branch, and Atlanta-area sites like restaurants in Buckhead and Norcross (Eagle Rock Studios) for intense scenes. The series put Georgia’s versatile landscapes on the map for global audiences.

•  Back in Action (2025 Film): This action-comedy marks Cameron Diaz’s return to acting alongside Jamie Foxx as retired CIA spies thrust back into espionage while protecting their family. Much of the production, including a chaotic suburban car chase that involved driving over real Atlanta-area lawns, took place in and around Atlanta, with studios and on-location shoots highlighting Georgia’s suburban charm.       Released on January 17, 2025, it blends high-stakes thrills with family humor.

•  All the Sinners Bleed (Upcoming Series): Based on S.A. Cosby’s novel, this serial killer drama began production in Atlanta in November 2025. It’s one of several Netflix projects leveraging the city’s studios for intense, character-driven stories.

•  Cobra Kai (Seasons 1-6): The Karate Kid spin-off, full of dojo rivalries and ’80s nostalgia, was largely filmed in Atlanta and surrounding areas, including local gyms and neighborhoods that doubled as California settings.

•  Love is Blind (Potential Seasons 12-13): Rumors swirl that this addictive dating reality show is returning to Atlanta Metro Studios starting February 2026, building on its Georgia roots from earlier seasons.

Other notable mentions include Pieces of Her (filmed from St. Simons to Jasper), Insatiable (set in a fictional Georgia town with real Peach State spots), and Tyler Perry’s Beauty in Black Season 3, which was in production as of December 2025.    With more like Tis So Sweet and an untitled HBCU project currently filming, Georgia’s role in Netflix’s lineup shows no signs of slowing.

If you’re in Georgia (hey, locals!), keep an eye outyou might spot the next big set nearby. Netflix’s investment here not only boosts the economy but also puts Southern charm front and center on global screen
